If you take interest in media tidbits, then you may be familiar with Khali.
Those who hardly know about him ,can take help of their neighbourhood kids . Khali is a professional wrestler who is an active participant in W.W.F. bouts. At present Khali is on a visit to India. Few know that this renowned public personality was born in very poor family as Dalip Singh Rana . He did odds kind of jobs to survive , till a Punjab police official spotted his giant stature .He was hired by Punjab police and was given ample training for body building competitions .Soon, he became a national champion whose physique was a major attraction.
However, he hardly got any recognition in return. Call it luck or circumstances, an American company approached him with an offer to join W.W.F . He was given a new name of Khali .
This was a turning point in his life which changed a lay person into an international celebrity. Now one can watch him in national and international sports channels.
His professional chart matches with the great Mohammad Ali, the boxing great legend. Ali was born as cassius clay in African American family and soon proved his mettle in boxing rings .
Cassius also brought glory to
United states by winning Olympic gold medal in (1960 Rome ). Nevertheless, he still went through
racial treatment which resulted in his change of heart .
He not only changed his religion but also turned into a professional boxer and the rest is history! In both cases, official apathy ,social callousness and financial conditions changed the path of two lay persons. They become icons in their lifetime. One can also say, utter neglect proved to be "blessing in disguise" for these champs!

Dear Ashish,
Nice comparison of a Khali dusted from the red soil of Punjab and brought to the lime-light by a Dimri. That reminds me of many a beautiful flower that bloomed in the arid deserts to fade and fall un-seen by any human eye. Khali had that extreme luck that comes to one in many which any man would feel an envy. It would also be relevant to mention the selection of two fastest pitchers from India who will be proceeding to L.A for further training in Base ball throwing, courtesy David Mulford, the U.S.Ambassador.

This is the first time I'm hearing of Khali, Ashish. That's an excellent introduction.
